Academics Curriculum The PSHS Curriculum is both intensive and extensive in science. mathematics, and technology. In all campuses, Computer Science is taken for four years , while Biology, Chemistry, and Physics are taken for three years. Research is taken as a subject where juniors and seniors integrate and apply the concepts they have learned in the lower years. In the second year, students are grouped into science or technology streams (groupings are based on the first year averages and a series of aptitude tests). Examples of science electives are Consumer Chemistry and the Summer Science Internship Program (apprenticeship program in government or private agencies). Examples of technology electives are Microprocessing and Advanced Electronics. The science electives prepare students for basic science careers while the technology electives prepare the students for courses in engineering and the like. While the PSHS curriculum is science and mathematics oriented in its thrust it is committed to provide a well-rounded academic program for the total development of the scholars. The humanities and related subjects focus on developing creative and socially responsible citizens through enriching curricular and co-curricular experience. |
